Highlights and shared places
In Staysy, a place (the café, beach or museum itself) is shared by every host who adds it, while your description and photo stay yours. Your guests read only your words. Other hosts see the place and how many hosts recommend it, never your text or your photo. Guests who have checked in can like a place, once per booking and anonymously. It works the same on every plan.
When to use this
- You are adding local recommendations and want to know what other hosts can see.
- Staysy says a place is “Already on Staysy” or asks “Did you mean…?” and you are not sure what to choose.
Steps
- Open Highlights in the bottom menu and tap New highlight. Search for the place first: a place picked from search takes its name, address, place type and location from Google, and usually a default photo too.
- A place and your highlight are two different things. The place (name, type, address) is shared by every host who adds it. Your highlight is your own entry for it: why you recommend it and, if you like, your own photo.
- Keep your description to a sentence or two: what to order, when to go, or why it is special. Only your guests see it. Add your own photo only if you have the rights to it; without one, guests see the place’s default photo.
- What other hosts see: a place you pick from search becomes a public place they can find and add to their own guides, with “X hosts recommend this”. They never see your description, your photo or who you are. A place you type in by hand or paste as a Google Maps link stays private to you.
- If the place is already on Staysy, you see “Already on Staysy” and how many hosts recommend it. Tap Add your description to write your own text and add your photo for that same place. If it is already in your Highlights, you see “You already added this place” with a link to edit it.
- If Staysy finds places with a similar name nearby, it asks “Did you mean…?”. Tap Use this place when it is the same one, so every host recommends one place and the counts add up. Tap No, it’s a different place to create yours exactly as you entered it.
- You cannot change a place’s name, type or address from your highlight, because other hosts share them. If one is wrong (a typo, the wrong language, a place that closed or moved), open the highlight and tap Report a problem with this place. The Staysy team gets the report with the place already filled in.
- Below your own highlights, Places on Staysy lists public places you have not added yet, those near your properties first. Tap Add to my highlights, then write your description.
- On the property, open the Places item and tick your highlights, or public places from the list, to link them; untick to remove one. Guests see them on the Explore tab. When you tick a place you have not described yet, a sheet opens so you can write why guests should go. Add places nearby offers quick picks (Coffee, Dinner, Beach and more) around the property.
- Guest likes: once guests have confirmed check-in in the guide, they can tap the heart on a place during the stay and on the places list after it. Each booking can like a place once, and guests can take it back. Likes are anonymous: you only see the total, “Y guests like this”, counted across every property that lists the place. Likes never change the order of your list.
- Places, recommendation counts and guest likes are included on every plan, Free too.

If a place does not show for guests, check that it is ticked in the property’s Places item and that the Places section is turned on. For a wrong name or address, use Report a problem with this place on the highlight; for anything else, use Report a bug in the account menu (top right).
