Highlights: best practices
When to use this
- You want consistent local tips across several properties.
- Guests say map links or descriptions for a place are unclear.
Steps
- Create highlights in Highlights (host library). Each row is reusable: name, place type, address, description, optional image URL.
- Pick a place type that matches how guests search (café, restaurant, park, etc.). It maps to labels in the guest guide.
- Use a complete, geocodable address when you want reliable map or directions behavior; double-check spelling.
- Keep descriptions one or two sentences: what to order, when it is closed, or why it is special—skip long travel essays.
- Use an HTTPS image URL only when you have rights to the image; it appears in the guest list when present.
- On the property, link highlights in order—that order is what guests see in the local Highlights section.
- Remember visibility: highlights are usually “before check-in” so guests can plan ahead; align with “What guests see and when” if you change visibility.

If a highlight does not appear on the guest side, confirm it is linked on the property and the section is saved.
